Concepts and Knowledge

CEC students construct first-hand knowledge about the processes, systems, and interactions that make up the natural world on our forested campus and in our classrooms. Our Preschool through 6th grade curriculum is designed around six socially or ecologically based units. In the classrooms, teachers creatively integrate themes of study into language learning, math, science, social studies and art.

The CFS Environmental Education coordinator works with all teachers to help them expand and extend the environmental portion of their curriculum by providing them with resources and guest speakers, coordinating field experiences, collaborative teaching and team planning.
