Plant a Donation

Plant a Donation is a program that provides people from all over the world with an opportunity to help restore the tropical cloud forest in Monteverde, Costa Rica.

The Cloud Forest School/Centro de Educación Creativa is actively reforesting the parts of our campus that were clear-cut for pastureland carried out prior to the school's purchase of the property.

Over 1,700 native cloud forest trees are germinated each year from seeds collected on campus by the students.

Over the past seven years, the CEC/CFS students have planted nearly 8,000 trees on our campus. During the 2007-2008 school year we donated over 500 seedlings to help with other community reforestation projects. We hope to accomplish even more this year, but your help is needed to do so.

With a tax deductible donation of only $15, you can sponsor a tree from seed to seedling. The students at the CEC/CFS will collect seeds from the forest, germinate them in our greenhouse, and nurture the seedlings until they can thrive on their own. They are then transplanted to areas designated for reforestation.

The 106 acres that make up the school's campus are protected from development by a permanent conservation easement (the first in Costa Rica), and feature a wealth of increasingly rare flora and fauna. Therefore, you can be assured that your tree will grow and flourish on our campus for many years to come. Perhaps it will become a home for a bellbird, or a perch for a toucan!
