Walk for Scholarships

OUR SECOND CARRERA CREATIVA WAS A GREAT SUCCESS!

On Saturday, February 16th, the CFS hosted the Second Carrera Creativa, a 5K Walk/10K Run for Scholarships. This year’s race brought in approximately 50 runners and nearly 100 walkers from 5 different countries!  Our fastest time was 46:05, 2:15 minutes faster than last year’s record.  One of our volunteers, Keefe Keeley, came in 2nd place with a time of 47:05.  Click here to see the results!This year we had an amazing amount of student participation!  50% of the walkers were students, 30% of the runners were students, and 70& of the high school students participated in the event by walking, running or volunteering.  Everyone enjoyed the music, soccer matches, face-painting, art projects, delicious food and frappuccinos during the festival afterwards.  We are so grateful to all of the volunteers, staff, parents, students, community members and visitors who came to show their support!  With their help, we raised close to $1,400 in one day!  This combined with our Benefit Concert for Scholarships in January brings the total to nearly $2,000! 

All the proceeds from the Carrera Creativa/Caminata go to our scholarship fund. Although we make every effort to keep tuition as low as possible, 65% our students still receive scholarship assistance because of family need.
